PCAN Nets Configuration
v6.0.3
6.0.3 02/07/2026
Improvements
- After modifiying the Binding parameters of a net, the net is automatically moved to the correct parent item in the tree that matches the new binding parameters. Before, the net was only shown in the correct location after the configuration was saved.
Bug fixes
- If a non-FD net was created for an FD-compatible interface and then edited again to be an FD net, the net stayed a non-FD net.
6.0.2 20/05/2026
Bug fixes
- The channel assignment of a Device ID binding could be lost if the Binding tab in the Net Properties dialog was never selected, just the dialog opened and closed with OK
- Binding a net to a Device ID and a channel number greater than 1 did not work and the net was always bound to channel 1
- All bit rates would disappear under certain conditions when a new custom bit rate was set in the Bit Rate Manager
6.0.1 28/04/2026
Bug fixes
- Error 'ILLPARAMVAL' when trying to save a new or modified CAN XL net
- German HTML5 help was not fully translated
6.0.0 31/03/2026
Improvements
- Added support for CAN-XL-compatible CAN interfaces and PCAN nets using CAN XL operation modes
Changes
- Management of bit rates is now done in an external application that is installed by the PEAK-Drivers setup
- Help files (*.chm) have been replaced with an HTML5-based system that opens in a web browser
5.1.0 14/01/2025
Improvements
- Redesigned the Binding tab on the Edit Net dialog to allow to bind nets to the GUID of a device instead of the Device ID.
Bug fixes
- Fixed some minor user interface issues.
Changes
- Settings dropdown-menu replaced with Menu button, which can be opened with CTRL+M. All settings have been moved there.
5.0.5 05/07/2024
Improvements
- Minor user interface optimizations
5.0.4 09/02/2024
Improvements
- If an error occurs while saving a net in the Registry, the error is displayed in a message box with name and error code
- Removed the restriction that the operation mode of an SJA1000 net could not be changed to CAN or CAN FD even if the parent was an FD-compatible CAN interface
- When creating a net for a PCAN-Gateway, the new net is initialized with the current bit rate of the associated hardware channel
- In the Bit Rate Manager dialog, the bit rate parameters of the 'None' preset can now be copied into the clipboard
- When a bit rate value or sample point is manually entered in the Edit Net dialog, the calculated bit rate tries to preserve the previous prescaler value
- Some other minor user interface improvements
Bug fixes
- The ISO mode selected for a net was ignored when registering the net in the device driver and saving its parameters in the Registry
- Creating an FD net without a data bit rate was not working
- When changing a CAN net to CAN FD, after enabling the data bit rate and applying the changes the nominal bit rate was no longer correct
- When trying to use a name for a new net that was already in use did not show the corresponding error message in the Edit Net dialog
- Binding a net to a Device ID and controller number could fail if one of the other nets of the hardware was already in use while edtiting the net
- When creating a net for a PCAN-Gateway, no mode/bitrate selection is allowed (like in PCAN Nets 4.x) and an informational message is shown at the top of the Edit Net dialog
- The information whether a net on PCAN-LAN was CAN FD or standard CAN was lost after the computer was restarted because a CAN FD net on PCAN-LAN did not store its bit rate parameters into the Registry
- Title bar buttons were not visible if the window was maximized on a 4k/UHD monitor
Changes
- PCAN-internally created nets named 'PCANLight_...' can no longer be dragged with the mouse
5.0.3 15/12/2022
Improvements
- Internal code optimizations
5.0.2 08/09/2022
Improvements
- A warning is shown on the Binding page of the Edit Net dialog box if the Device ID that is to be used for the binding is currently assigned to more than one CAN interface
5.0.1 12/04/2022
Improvements
- Setting the operation mode of a net to SJA1000 did not work if the net was created for a non-SJA1000 hardware
- When the UI style was changed and some nets had already been modified, the nets in the tree were no longer indicated as having been modified
- Fixed some other minor user interface issues
5.0.0 21/02/2022
Improvements
- Available as 32-bit and 64-bit executable
- Support for High-DPI displays
- Uses SVG vector graphics instead of bitmap graphics
- No longer depends on PCAN-API DLLs
- New user interface styles like in PCAN-View 5: new dark style and improved light style, former 'dark' style renamed to 'Modern'
- New preset selection for CAN FD bit rates
- Improved bit rate selection with the possibility to freely enter bit rate and sample point, and to select from a list of compatible parameter values to get to the desired bit timing
4.3.3 11/05/2021
Improvements
- If the channel number of a binding had been changed and the configuration saved, the selected Net could suddenly disappear from view since its parent had changed. Now, the new parent of the Net is expanded to bring the Net back into view and the selection state is restored
Bug fixes
- The settings on the RP1210 and Binding tabs in the Net Properties dialog box were reverted to default values if the tabs in the dialog were not shown at least once while editing a Net
- If the net name entered in the Net Properties dialog box was somehow invalid (already in use or other cause) and a different tab was active while pressing OK, an error message 'Cannot focus a disabled or invisible window' was triggered
4.3.2 30/09/2020
Improvements
- LAN nets can be bound to a Device ID
- The Device ID and Channel number fields in the Edit Net dialog box were filled with the values from the parent hardware only if an existing net was edited, but not if a new net was created
Bug fixes
- Selecting a net as RP1210-A net and assigning channel 0 was not working since version 4.3.1
Changes
- Device ID tab in Edit Net dialog box renamed to 'Binding'

Bug fixes
- If more than 32 nets were added to a single hardware channel, Access Violation errors occurred and the application window was no longer painted correctly
- Nets that had an ampersand in its names were not displayed correctly in the list
4.2.0 19/12/2018
Improvements
- New possibility to configure the CAN FD ISO mode for nets. Requires PCAN driver v4.1.4 or newer
Bug fixes
- The PCI device shown in the info text for PCAN-PCI cards was always 0
- The error message 'Cannot focus a disabled or invisible window' was displayed if a default bit rate was selected in the Bit Rate Manager dialog box that had parameters which were not within the valid range
- If the Data Bit Rate checkbox in the Edit Net dialog box was left unchecked for a CAN FD net, a separate data bit rate was defined for the net nevertheless
