PEAK enters Automotive Ethernet

PAE Media Converter

The new PAE media converter simplifies development, validation and error simulation for Automotive Ethernet.

With the PAE media converter, PEAK extends its in-vehicle networking portfolio with its first product for Automotive Ethernet. This compact device converts Automotive Ethernet 100BASE-T1 or 1000BASE-T1 to standard Ethernet 100BASE-TX or 1000BASE-T, allowing a direct connection to existing development, analysis and validation environments.

Hardware configuration, no software

The converter covers the 100 Mbit/s and 1,000 Mbit/s domains. Speed selection is done in hardware, via DIP switches: no additional software is needed for configuration. For automated test systems, an optional USB API allows remote control.

Simulating reproducible interruptions

One of the central functions is the controlled physical interruption of the link. Developers trigger these interruptions directly on the device or through the API, in order to simulate reproducible error conditions without unplugging cables. Manual intervention is reduced and connectors are preserved.

Designed for the test bench

The device supports H-MTD and MATEnet connectors in a single housing, which reduces the need for adapters. A built-in frame generator supports link validation and cabling tests, while LEDs report on link status, signal quality and errors.

Aluminium enclosure, operating temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C, power supply via USB-C or 6 to 36 V DC, compatibility with standard Ethernet tools: the PAE media converter is designed for practical integration into automotive test benches and engineering workflows.
