Portable diagnostic tool for CAN and CAN FD networks
Compact and affordable, the PCAN-MiniDiag FD is a handheld device designed for basic diagnostics of CAN and CAN FD buses. It allows maintenance technicians and developers to easily access vehicle, machine, or industrial installation networks whose parameters are not known. A bit timing measurement automatically determines the nominal bit rate (CAN) and the data bit rate (CAN FD). The device also includes functions for measuring termination, bus load, and the voltage levels present on the CAN connector.
The membrane keypad and housing of the PCAN-MiniDiag FD give it enhanced protection. It is powered by three replaceable batteries.
The CAN FD (Flexible Data rate) standard is mainly characterized by increased transfer capacity. Each frame can contain up to 64 bytes of data (compared with 8 previously), transmitted at rates of up to 10 Mbit/s. Backward compatible with the CAN 2.0 A/B standard, CAN FD allows CAN FD nodes to be inserted into an existing CAN network (though the CAN FD extensions remain inoperative in that case).
