CAN and CAN FD repeater with galvanic isolation of bus segments
The PCAN-Repeater DR provides galvanic isolation of up to 5 kV within a high-speed CAN bus. The two CAN ports and the power supply are mutually isolated. All traffic, including error frames, is faithfully reproduced 1:1 between the two ports. The PCAN-Repeater DR operates passively and remains transparent to the CAN bus. LEDs indicate bus status.
This module is designed to extend cable runs or to galvanically isolate two segments of a CAN bus. Its DIN rail housing and extended temperature range make it suitable for industrial environments. The PCAN-Repeater DR supports CAN FD buses with a maximum data bit rate of 4 Mbit/s and a maximum nominal bit rate of 1 Mbit/s.
Note
In accordance with the CAN protocol, the maximum bus length depends directly on the communication speed. The PCAN-Repeater DR therefore does not extend this distance. Furthermore, each PCAN-Repeater DR inserted into the bus reduces the usable physical length due to its signal processing time.
