CAN/CAN FD repeater with push-in connectors and termination resistor
The Ixxat CAN/FD Repeater Standard with two CAN/CAN FD interfaces improves the load capacity of the CAN bus, establishes a physical coupling of bus systems and offers galvanic isolation. It provides the flexibility to optimize network structures and frees them from the structural constraints of the CAN bus for optimized operation.
Key points
- Robust industrial use — Designed for industrial environments, meeting high requirements for robustness, temperature range and safety.
- Flexibility in CAN FD network design — Helps optimize CAN/CAN FD network structures by enabling extended topologies (spur lines, star and tree topologies).
- Removable push-in connectors — Fitted with removable push-in connectors, ensuring effortless installation and maintenance, with no additional tools required.
- Fast and transparent operation — Minimal impact on real-time behavior, equivalent to a short line length (approx. 35 m / 175 ns delay). Transparent transmission, compatible with all higher-layer protocols.
- Savings through simplified cabling — Optimized topologies allow simpler cabling, reducing the number of cables and installation and maintenance costs.
- Enhanced network reliability — Increased system reliability through electrical isolation of CAN/CAN FD segments and power withstand of up to 5 kV DC for 1 minute. This strengthens device protection against electronic damage caused by voltage spikes.
- Network monitoring and fault recovery — In the event of disturbances, the repeater automatically disconnects the affected segment and restores it once the fault has been resolved.
- Integrated termination resistors — Integrated termination resistors for each CAN channel (120 Ohm, individually switchable via DIP switches) preventing reflections at line ends and ensuring optimal communication.
