CAN repeater with 4 kV DC/3.5 kV AC galvanic isolation
The Ixxat CAN-CR220 repeater with two CAN interfaces offers galvanic isolation of up to 4 kV DC/3.5 kV AC for 1 second, strengthening the protection of network segments. It improves CAN bus load capacity, establishes a physical coupling of bus systems and offers the flexibility to optimize network structures. The CAN-CR220 complies with DIN/EN 50178 standards.
Key points
- Robust industrial use — Designed for industrial environments, meeting high requirements for robustness, temperature ranges and safety.
- CAN network design flexibility — Helps optimize CAN network structures by enabling extended topologies (stub lines, star and tree topologies).
- Fast and transparent operation — Minimal impact on real-time behavior, equivalent to a short line length (approx. 40 m/200 ns delay). Transparent transmission, compatible with all higher-layer protocols.
- Savings through simplified wiring — Optimized topologies allow simplified wiring, reducing the number of cables and installation and maintenance costs.
- Increased system protection up to 4 kV DC/3.5 kV AC for 1 s — With the CAN-CR220, network components can be galvanically isolated up to 4 kV DC/3.5 kV AC for 1 second (3.2 kV DC/2 kV AC for 1 minute). This reliably strengthens device protection against electronic damage caused by voltage spikes.
- Network monitoring and fault recovery — In the event of a disturbance, the repeater automatically disconnects the affected segment and reconnects it once the fault has been resolved.
- Built-in bus termination resistors — The built-in bus termination resistors (120 Ohm, switchable via DIP switch) prevent reflections at line ends and ensure optimal communication.
