CAN and CAN FD interface board in M.2 (PCIe) format

PCAN-M.2 avec deux câbles de connexion D-Sub

Thanks to the M.2 (PCIe) slot found on modern motherboards, the PCAN-M.2 board provides direct access to CAN and CAN FD buses. Its minimal footprint makes it a perfectly suited solution for embedded PCs, single-board computers (SBC) and compact applications. Galvanic isolation of up to 300 volts protects the computer side from the CAN bus side. This board is available in single, dual and quad channel versions.

The CAN FD (Flexible Data rate) standard provides significantly higher transfer bandwidth. Up to 64 bytes of payload data (versus 8 previously) can be transmitted at a bit rate of up to 12 Mbit/s. CAN FD ensures full backward compatibility with CAN 2.0 A/B, allowing CAN FD nodes to be integrated into a conventional CAN network (however, CAN FD-specific extensions cannot be used in this case).

The CAN FD-compatible PCAN-View visualization software and the PCAN-Basic development API are supplied with the product.

CAN FD ISO / Non-ISO

The CAN FD protocol has evolved since its first implementations and is now included in the ISO 11898-1 standard. However, this standardized version is not interoperable with the original protocol implementation.

PEAK-System addresses this constraint by integrating support for both protocol modes in its recent CAN FD interfaces. Users can switch between ISO and non-ISO modes at any time via software. Products sold before February 2015 require a firmware update to benefit from this dual compatibility. For any questions or further information, please contact .
